Aw, we’re a bunch of saps. 😉 And our annual pilgrimage to Noir City is coming up soon!!

You know, Emily Dickinson creeps me out–I’ve never cried at her stuff. Christina Rossetti, sure. One of my favorite poems is another Thomas Hardy — “The Darkling Thrush.”

As for the dead parent story line, I cried for hours over my favorite Batman story hen I was a kid. It was published in the ’70s, and is absolutely magnificent. It’s called “Night of the Stalker.” And it’s why I’ve always loved the Dark Knight (as well as the dark night). 😉

See you at Noir City, sweetie!!

Hands down, the funeral scene in Fanny and Alexander. But really any dead parent storyline will have me weeping like a baby.

I don’t cry as easily with books as with movies. Oh, but that darned Emily Dickenson can catch me off guard and make me cry my eyes out.

You wouldn’t think a bunch of film noir fans would be weepers, would you. Easy to forget that film noir is a child of the form (not the perjorative) melodrama.
